The girl was in Patrickapos;s car this morning, smiling her stupid little Barbie face off. About what, I donapos;t know, because Patrick wasnapos;t talking at the time and neither was she, but whatever. Either way, I had SUCH hope that he was actually alone for the night (Since he left his house alone at ~4:15 PM, and had a guy friend over the night before), but no, of course not. Barbie is needy, and doesnapos;t know how to sleep alone.

So, of course, now my mind is racing and my cough is as bad as ever, so I canapos;t get back to sleep. I was ALMOST there, though... I woke up from a horrible nightmare (Involving a cannibal father cutting off his sonapos;s feet and burning them, then refusing to eat them. Why? Because the son was a vegetarian and the father wanted to teach him a lesson.), and was able to comfort myself by imagining Patrick cuddling me. Thatapos;s a step up from three weeks ago.

A small step. Because even though I can imagine it again, I canapos;t imagine anywhere NEAR as well as I used to be able to. Iapos;m forgetting how he smiled when he was with me, his shampoo doesnapos;t immiediatly bring back scentmemories, and above all, Camaro Barbie is still there, still smiling. Smiling because she, not me, has the most important and wonderful man in the world in her nasty clawed talons.

Hi everyone. I'm in Santa Monica this week at a business apprenticeship at Petranek Fitness, also know as CrossFit Los Angeles. I will be learning as much as I can about running a gym, teaching classes, and all the in's and out's involved. Our own CrossFit gym is underway and we will be holding fundamental sessions and small group classes at our home until our facility is ready. Visit our new website at www.crossfitnwt.com for a sneak peak.

Anyways, back to my day in Santa Monica. I flew out this morning and arrived at LAX, flight on time, luggage retrieved and took a cab to my hotel. I had a list of things I wanted to do today and needed to keep busy so I wouldn't spend the day with a belly ache from missing my family. So, I decided I was going to do like I did as a single traveling lady. Get to my home base, and then just go where ever I go. I forgot to mention, I ran into an acquaintance at the airport. His name is Jesse and I call him an acquaintance as I don't remember his last name. Anyways, he had just got married yesterday and was heading to Kauai for his honeymoon. That was neat.

So back to California. I get my stuff to my room and walk to the nearest grocery store which is Albertson's. I am going to try to stay as close to Paleo as I can on this trip, it can be done. I got a rotisserie chicken, turkey meat, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, strawberries, avocados, raw almonds, water, and a decaf americano...yes, the grocery store had a Starbucks. Then I head to my hotel again for lunch which was chicken, 1/2 an avocado, and raw cauliflower. Then I headed out towards the beach finishing my americano and eating a gluten free larabar made from cashews and dates. I walked to find Petranek Fitness where I will be spending most of my time this week. Very neat place as much as I could see peering in the windows. Then headed to LuluLemon for some workout clothing. That was super fun and had to resist the urge to spend a fortune on myself and then another fortune on Kevin as they have really cool men's workout clothes too. Then, head to 3rd Street Promenade and that was packed. People everywhere Found a little kids clothing store called...This Little Piggy Wear's Cotton and was hoping to see Reece Witherspoon or Katie Holmes in there shopping. But no. Bought the girls some cute funky socks as they are into this funky stage right now which is so adorable. Picked up a cute little dress for Sofia. Probably spent way more than I should on their clothes but...hey, I'm on vacation...well, business trip. Then, I walked to the beach and strolled down Santa Monica Pier. On the beach, next to the pier, there were 100's crosses lined up and four coffins. I never figured out what it was for but imagine it had something to do with the soldiers in the war.

It's nearly sunset and I need to start heading back to my hotel so I'm not out at dark. Head to Whole Foods to see if they have anything for dinner. Picked up asparagus, raw nuts, and chocolate covered almonds in case I get a sweet tooth, almond milk, and more larabar's. I was going to get a protein source as well for dinner and save the chicken and turkey for breakfasts during the week but get this...all the fish was farm raised....and the chicken was marinaded in soy, wheat, oats, the turkey burgers were rolled in oats...I couldn't do it I came home and had left over chicken from lunch, asparagus, the rest of the avocado, strawberries, nuts, and a few chocolate covered nuts. My legs are pooped. I walked for about 5 hours today, not the intensity I'm used to going at in my workouts, but my feet, legs, and hips were definitely ready to sit down. Now it's time for me to go to bed. I'll post more about this adventure tomorrow. I hope I learn a lot

So, I finally broke down and rented Season 1 of Buffy. Iapos;ve watched three episodes so far.

Some observations:
1. Iapos;m really really glad I didnapos;t wait any longer to watch them, because the clothes are outrageously out of style, in an amusing way. The cool fashion kids look like total geeks. High-water pants, chunky boots, stripes, and probably quite a few other things that somebody more fashion-savvy than me could point out. Funny Itapos;s occasionally enough to actually drive me out of the story, like Iapos;m watching old episodes of I Dream of Jeannie or something. Serves me right for waiting so long.
2. Did people really buy Sarah Michelle Gellar as being 16? She looks about the same soccer-momish (hockey-momish, if Iapos;m being au courant) age as the woman who plays her mother. There are shots of her where sheapos;s cute, but not 16 cute. More like 25 cute. I could buy her as a sophomore in college, but not a sophomore in high school. Willow and Xander seem high schoolish, but everybody else... No. I have to pretend theyapos;re in college in order to maintain any suspension of disbelief. Like the clothes, Iapos;m assuming that that evens out as the series goes on. The characters will get older, after all. (This not-16 situation reminds me of some of the flurry of criticism when Titanic came out. I read on a lot of message boards that people couldnapos;t buy Kate Winslett as 17. I thought Kate Winslett was fine for 17. Buffy? Not so much.)
3. The very first face on the screen in Episode 1 is a gorgeous vampire named Darla -- played by none other than Rita, Dexter Morganapos;s girlfriend Darla got dusted in episode 1, so I donapos;t think sheapos;ll be back. Icanapos;t be sure, though, since the whole series is about undeadish things. Anyway, it always tickles me when I spot an actor Iapos;m familiar with in a bit part on an older show. It reminds me that breaking into acting and breaking into fiction are really similar.
4. Giles is hot. Am Isupposed to think that?

All in all, Iapos;m enjoying it. Ithink I would have really liked the show had I watched it with the rest of the world.

I never go to the candidates websites for updates on what's going on. Perhaps I should have. I mentioned that The Economist had a survey saying economists like Obama. But here they have actually signed their names to a statement which reads as follows:

We enthusiastically support John McCain's economic plan. It is a comprehensive, pro-growth, reform agenda. The reform focuses on the real economic problems Americans face today and will face in the future. And it builds on the core economic principles that have made America great.

His plan would control government spending by vetoing every bill with earmarks, implementing a constitutionally valid line-item veto, pausing non-military discretionary government spending programs for one year to stop their explosive growth and place accountability on federal government agencies.

His plan would keep taxes from rising, because higher tax rates are exactly the wrong policy to restore economic growth, especially at this time.

His plan would reduce tax rates by cutting the tax that corporations pay to 25 percent in line with other countries, by completely phasing out the alternative minimum tax, by increasing the exemption for dependents, by permitting the first-year expensing of new equipment and technology, and by making permanent a reformed tax credit for RD.

His plan would also create a new and much simpler tax system and give Americans a free choice of whether to pay taxes under that simple system or the current complex and burdensome income tax.

His plan would open new markets for American goods and services and thereby create additional jobs for Americans by supporting good free trade agreements, such as the one with Colombia, and working with leaders around the world to avoid isolationism and protectionism. His plan would also reform education, retraining, and other assistance programs so they better help those displaced by trade and other changes in the economy. His plan addresses problems in the financial markets and housing markets by calling for increased transparency and accountability, by targeted assistance to deserving homeowners to refinance their mortgages, and by opposing so-called reform plans which would raise the costs of home-ownership in the future.

The above actions, as well as plans to address entitlement programs -- especially Social Security, Medicare and other government health care programs -- and his regulatory reforms -- especially in the area of health care -- constitute a broad and powerful economic agenda. Because of John McCain's experience working with the American people in all walks of life, with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, and with leaders around the world, we are optimistic that these plans will become a reality and will create jobs and restore confidence and strong economic growth.

I shouldn't be late on stuff like this.
